Still Able To Appeal For Dependency Override?

With both parents absent, I was planning to appeal for a dependency override for FAFSA. However, my father has recently made contact with me and has become involved in my life. Will this affect my chances of getting the override?

Much depends on your age and what your status was when your ‘parents were absent.’ Where you under a state supervised guardianship?

If you father is not wealthy, it may be better for him to file the FAFSA for you. You may still qualify for aid.

Why did you do in January when you posed a question about dependency overrides? Did you apply for them…or not? Did you contact the colleges as suggested?

If not, why not?

Yes…contact your colleges NOW…like today! Get this done. Younsaid you put your grandmother on your FAFSA…that needs to be corrected if nothing else…unless she adopted you.

What does parent being absent mean>

You are not eligible for a dependency override. If this is the parent who has provided the most support, then this is the parent, whose information you use on the FAFSA.
