<p>EC-Mostly crap, some volunteering, touch of leadership, family responsibilities, did some clothing resale for side money</p>
<p>So far applied UCLA, UCBerk, UF. </p>
<p>Essay is some personal heartfelt BS about mental illness and family struggle. </p>

<p>Questions- Should I just leave my ACT off the Common app? It seems lackluster in comparison to my SAT. </p>
<p>I want to work in business, so I was looking at Emory Business or economics at a more prestigious school (Duke/Northwestern). I’m debating just applying ED2 to Emory as I feel that would seal the deal for that school, but if I did get into a better one I’d be screwed. </p>
<p>Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I feel dumb not leaving much time but I’d really like some guidance here.</p>
<p>Top tier schools will be able to sniff out the “heartfelt BS” of your essay. A high SAT/gpa does not cut it for a school like Duke and above. Your essay needs to be on point and show that you are a motivated student. You’re not doing the school a favor by blessing them with your application. Put some effort into that essay. </p>
<p>Other than that, you have a good chance atNorthwestern depending on how good your EC’s are. Duke is another story sinplybecause its a crapshoot. Look at USC, UNC-CH, UMich, Dartmouth.</p>
<p>Don’t apply to Emory ED. I feel like yu have a lot more potential. Emory is a great school but based upon your academic stats, I feel like a higher ranked school is a strong possibility. You wont have too much trouble getting in at Emory, anyways.</p>
<p>P.S. 33 = 2200-2250. So, up to you. I wouldnt submit it. Also, it doesnt matter whether your report it on Common App or not. That section can left be blank from what I hear. Only official scores matter.</p>

<p>Be creative with it! I edit essays for plenty of students. I’m a student myself but writing is my best suit and people know that. Take a cool twist. For one essay, I literally wrote about my personality by describing a basket of fruit. In another, I explored my unconventionality through Batman. Have fun! Dont try to impress. Making an essay about something traumatic/painful does not gaurantee it will be good. Adcomm’s get plenty of tear jerking, adversity conquering jargon. Feel free to send me your essay.</p>

You are probably better off in an arts & sciences curriculum as a economics major than in a business one. Given that, you can do better than Emory. You also have an option of top LAC’s.</p>

<p>Have you taken SAT subject tests? They are required for the Ivy League and top LAC’s. If you have a talent for writing, the University of Chicago has challenging admission essay topics as well as the top economics program.</p>

<p>Idk I think its pretty unique, trying to write it on a societal level while reflecting on growing up with a brother with ASPD (sociopathy)</p>

<p>I was under the impression that there was a lot of calculus and other upper level involved in economics and I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep up. </p>

<p>No SAT IIs. I just checked out Chicago essays and they seem pretty fun topics I could flex my writing skills on.</p>
