Stocking stuffers

It’s funny that stocking stuffers vary so…As a child we used to get our very own oranges, old-fashioned hard candy and a handful of nuts! I sorta miss the old days!

I will still put clementines or satsumas in, and a candy cane poking out the top!

@doschicos, that’s cool. I just ordered the tool kit thingy for DH’s and D1’s boyfriend’s stockings. Thanks for the tip!

I’m giving my girls both heated windshield scrapers.

@zoosermom, I’m intrigued. Where do you find those?

When your kids were younger (or maybe older too) did you buy those clear plastic candy canes filled with Hershey kisses or M &M’s for stockings???

Here’s an updated variety for the “older” kids:

Kohl’s and Sharper Image. We don’t have a garage.

@zoosermom - I’m interested too. Do they really work well? They’d be great for my H and S coming out of work if it’s snowed during the day!

They do work. They actually do! The Kohl’s one is on sale for $15 and plugs into the cigarette lighter thingy.
The Sharper Image one is a bit more expensive, but I think probably worth it.

This may be a little expensive to qualify as a stocking stuffer, but I gave my husband a Petzl headlamp one year. It got great laughs at the time, but it has been very useful. He uses it when he grills after the sun sets. He also uses it when he takes the dog out for the last time before bed…especially during the time of year when skunks are active in our area. He could use a flashlight, but we think the headlamp is fun/funny and it allows him to keep his hands free.

Thanks! At Kohl’s you can also use a promo code to get an additional 25% off! Either “Chestnuts” or “Love25” seems to work. The Sharper Image one is a bit too much for me for a stocking stuffer.

Here’s some ideas from items I’ve given to my outdoorsy male child:

Leather wrapped Flask

Firestarter

^ REI has LOTS of practical and useful stocking stuffers. I’m headed there this afternoon for just this purpose!

@akmom124, do you have a link to the wiper blade warmers at Koh’ls? I keep plugging it in on the search tab and don’t come up with anything.

Okay, heated ice scraper vs. heated wiper blades.

I saw a link to heated wiper blades from a different place. $149. D1 lives in North Carolina, so I don’t think she would need that, but you folks up in the NE might like to check those out!

I put"tiles" in the “kids” last year. I also got two for myself and I LOVE them. Very handy. I can’t tell you how many times I used it!! This generation is supposed to be better than last year’s model.

What are “tiles”?

I was looking at the tiles too (it’s a location thing you can put in your wallet or attach to your keychain to find them with your phone). DH is always forgetting where he’s put his wallet!

Heated wiper blades are an interesting idea but since we’re constantly replacing blades anyway I can’t see that they would last that long!

If my (Southern Baptist) mom wasn’t coming for Christmas, everyone would be getting those whiskey stockings!

@FallGirl - I found it on Amazon. Not sure if I can post a link, but the name is below:

MagnoGrip 002-351 Magnetic Wrist Band

H has one of those headlamps too. He looks ridiculous when he wears it, but he finds it very useful.

The Pocket Monkey is a great idea for S. Thanks @doschicos!
