OP here. I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and offers of help, and give you an update. I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine who offered to buy a winter coat for my son when I told him what happened. He just won his fantasy football pool and is feeling flush. I still think a $10 “fracket” is a great idea.
Not to be too mushy, but the kindness of friends and strangers is truly amazing and puts a smile in my heart!
