What size coat is needed?
OP here. I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and offers of help, and give you an update. I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine who offered to buy a winter coat for my son when I told him what happened. He just won his fantasy football pool and is feeling flush. I still think a $10 āfracketā is a great idea.
Not to be too mushy, but the kindness of friends and strangers is truly amazing and puts a smile in my heart!
The insurance would be nice for a reimbursement , but the OPās son needs a coat now. Surely somebody here on this board has an extra they could donate. CC parents have helped in the past, was it Oldfort that bought a pair of dress shoes for a CCāer for a job iinterview?
while I do agree that there are probably opportunists at drinking parties looking for those who arenāt watching their belongings, i also have to say that there should be some common sense about what to do with your stuff.
what size is he? Is he interested in a pretty heavy zip hooded sweatshirt that says PJ20?
I live an hour away.
What size coat? I could help out if necessary.
What size coat does your son need? Iād have to check sizes, but I have a few that Iām about to drop off at Goodwill - if theyāre the right size, Iād be happy to drop them off to him this weekend.
@momofmusician17ā, your S may end up with more coats than he expected, including one or more frachets! Sounds like a great opportunity for your S and his buddies!
If the free coats donāt work out, Iāll chime in for big cheap thrift stores. My D3 found an Italian leather bomber jacket there for less than $30 that was in perfect condition. Your son will likely find something for even less!
My Sās coat was taken out of a locker at his schoolās athletic facility last semesterā¦it was a nice coat and a popular brand (his name was inside), so itās very likely that it was stolen. This sort of thing happens everywhere, unfortunately. He does have an old blue blazer to wear to parties that are jacket and tie, but will involve a lot of spilling. I bought him a new coat for Christmas, but now he wears an old coat whenever he knows that heāll have to leave it somewhere.
For the first time ever (thatās over 26 years), a jacket was taken in error from our office closet. Apparently a nearly identical jacket was left behind, but it wasnāt the personās jacket. Somehow the receptionist remembered who she thought wore the jacket and was able to arrange for the switch back by calling and asking about it. The next week I hung my coat in the closet at the hairdresser and when I saw how many black jackets there were in there, I got nervous myself about a potential for a mistake. (I leave my blouse in the jacket when I change into a robe at the hairdresser, so if they take my jacket they get my blouse too!) I would hope it was just a mistake somehow, but I do believe it possible that people could take a nice coat.
It sounds like the OPās son has some good ideas for how to replace his lost coat. Maybe one of his friends has a spare coat or jacket to loan him until he can get a replacement?
Hello Everyone,
I would like to thank everyone for their very kind offers of help and coats. A friend of my son who has more than one winter coat has loaned him a coat until he receives the coat from my friend. I looked at our Goodwill yesterday and there were only two coats that werenāt in his size. I am still going to look this weekend at other thrift stores so that he can have a fracket for parties. I really think that is a great idea.
Thank you once again. This community is amazing!!
When I glanced at this thread title, I thought it said āStolen CAT at party.ā
Need more coffee.
