Stony Brook Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

My son’s application is still awaiting decision. Was completed by Oct 22nd including all supporting documents. I guess these early admittances is going to be for very high stats kids in the completed. For most, i assume it would still be Jan 31.

It def seems like those who got early acceptances also got merit

The email said they would be releasing decisions throughout the day so I guess everyone needs to keep checking.

Congratulations! Did you get an email or checked portal

I’ve been checking on the Family Portal every 15 minutes. LOL. Nothing yet here. Still “Awaiting Decision”

Unclear. This is what is listed on their website:

Honors College scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement (e.g., high school grade point average, SAT or ACT scores, leadership, participation in extra-curricular activities and/or honors programs). Every admitted Honors College student will receive some level of scholarship support. This support is most often awarded in the form of a Presidential or Presidential Merit Scholarship. Continuation of the scholarship is contingent upon meeting the Honors College criteria. Further information is available from the Honors College website .

What major?

Sorry. Undeclared

S25 had his application complete by Oct24 including supporting materials. No email or portal update. Still says awaiting decision. We will have to wait till the original deadline of Jan 31. Bit of a letdown after raising some hopes. He has been accepted to Uni of Pittsburgh for Mechanical Engineering. We are OOS in MA and Stony brook was in top 3. We were on the fence for touring Pitt for admitted students day pending this decision from SBU but will proceed now. Any inputs on Pitt vs Stony Brook for Mechanical Enginerering? Which is the better option?. SBU is cheaper but I am looking at ability to secure internships and jobs as the main factor. Thanks

D25 also in at Pitt and still awaiting decisions from Bing and Stony. I don’t know about ME specifically but I keep hearing more and more good things about Pitt. We just scheduled an admitted students day for March.

Need to plan flights and hotel as we too have a admitted students tour date for March. so can’t wait till Jan 31 now to hear from SBU. Will do probably after we hear back from UMass Amherst on Jan 17. He is waiting on Penn state but prefers Pitt over Penn State Eng. I like SBU as it within driving distance for us. Pitt Eng seems to have a lot of good things going for it.

We are also waiting for UMass. I only booked the tour (not the flights and hotel). My suggestion is to book the tour now in case it fills up. You can always cancel it

S25 is also in at Pitt and waiting on Stony, Bing, and U Mass! I wish Pitt were a bit closer. S25 has said no schools that require planes but added Pitt despite the LONG train ride or drive.
