This is so freaking stupid. My instate kid, salutatorian with a class about 800 /1560 SAT had not heard yet and those OOS with much lower status already got in with scholarships… WtH. SUNY… WE PAID THE TAX

Emailed again and it is, in fact, a deferral. I’m so pissed about this, honestly. It seems that maybe marine bio is just really oversaturated this year or something? But i’ve seen people with way lower stats and fewer/worse ECs getting in EA which feels insane to me. It makes me wish I hadn’t even tried as hard, and makes my work feel kind of worthless. I’m still committing if I get in, but seriously screw the SUNY system 
It also really bothers me that they refused to say the word deferral or put it in the portal. This feels like it’s kind of screwing kids over and dancing around the truth with them. Very scummy.
S25 got an email today that SBU extending Regular Decision deadline from Jan 15 to Feb 15. The decisions for Feb15 deadline is end of March. Not sure what is going on. Did they not get enough applications o be comfortable n their yield or trying to reduce acceptance rate by increasing applicant pool? They sent out a small batch of results early in Dec and keeping most frustrated by no update! Applied mid Oct and still waiting! My kid has mentally moved on SBU to his other acceptances now.
Pretty sure the SUNYs got hit with way more applications than usual this year, which is why we got so many deferrals for all of the schools. They’re probably pushing back the deadline because they need more time to review applications. The small batch of results that came out were from the applications that they were able to review on time, that’s all. Not really anything to get upset about imo, but I understand. SBU is still a great school, so I would keep an open mind for when decisions finally come out.

Is it true that Stony is going to release their final decision within today 1/15th??? has anyone received their app?
If you did not get deferred from EA, the decision will be sometime late-January. I know that Bing has a confirmed final date for EA by the 15th and that SBU’s RD app deadline is the 15th, but I don’t think they’ve released a set date for EA decisions. Could be wrong, though.
how do you know if your deferred or not??? like will they shot you an email be like I wanted your mid year grade or SMT?
and I’m pretty sure during their stony brook university Financial Aid Overview and Q&A 1/9th they did mention all EA will get their final round by today… so I’m kinda lost…
I believe the email back in December said there would be a first wave in December and a second and final wave on 1/31. So if you didn’t hear in December, then you will hear on 1/31. I think?
I got an email requesting my mid-year grades, that’s how I knew.
This week (Friday, 1/31) is apparently the second wave of decisions, per the email we all seem to have received in December!

What are the general GPA you guys have… I think I’m cooked with a 3.60 weighted 5 AP’s applying to bio BS
You’re not cooked…your stats are already better than mine. My GPA is an 86.11 UW / 86.90 W but my school only makes us submit weighted. I have 2 college courses in Spanish, 2 honors classes in Spanish, 1 honors class (hopefully!!) in marketing/advertising, and 1 AP (AP CSP)…I’m applying to Engineering.
I meant like yea… I understand that my stat aren’t bad but it just the fact that I’m applying to Bio (BS) where were some usually fits for some of crazy smart students and I don’t think I will make it so…

I logged in the portal and status is “decided”. But nothing else. So they’ve decided but will only tell everyone on Jan 31? Strange after already releasing decisions back in Dec.
