Stop kony 2012

I’ve been seeing this KONY stuff all up and down the internet today. What makes the call to elimination of this guy, suddenly it seems, such an exigent matter? I think most people are aware that there’s a lot of crappy stuff happening in certain parts of Africa–and in different parts of the rest of the world, for that matter. But why’s Kony the man? And do people expect the grooming of child soldiers to become, magnificently, some antiquity once this dickhead is deposed or shot through the head or whatever else? I’m not saying we shouldn’t go after the bad guys. (We should.) I’m just thoroughly interested whenever one of these things pops up on the Web. It seems sort of like one of those fruitless little facebook trends–“Make your profile picture into a cartoon character to end child abuse!”–to sweep one’s fingers athwart the keyboard and feel greatly contented, holier even.

So, someone with the same feelings posted this link up on facebook, and it’s not only a good little read but the product of two awesome people (anyone a nerdfighter?): fishingboatproceeds.■■■■■■■■■■/post/18888907871/kony-2012
