<p>Just got back to Marin and the rain is light, but wind is getting quite gusty…some 35+ mph. Very few cars on the road. Lots of tree crews working frantically trimming trees. Most of Marin has run out of sand for sand bags. Local weather media is saying storm is coming in 1 1/2 hour faster than expected…and maybe will leave faster–but still expected lots of rain/wind/damage.</p>

<p>Recognizing that many parents would be without child care tomorrow (and weather issues), some businesses are now telling employees to work from home, notably Salesforce.</p>

<p>Also, blizzard warnings have been issued for Tahoe from 7 am thru Friday.</p>

<p>Cold front in Tampa- my widgets showed warmer temps in Seattle Wednesday (both in the low 60’s)! Why couldn’t the warmth have been when we were there in November??? </p>

<p>Good luck to all. Used to inches of rain in a day here, but the ground- sandy soil- absorbs it, huge street drains (relative to what WI has) and there aren’t elevations for mud to slide down.</p>

<p>I’m in SF, and it’s after midnight and completely dry. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much advance notice and advance preparation for a storm. We’re being allowed to telecommute tomorrow. It was mobbed in the supermarket at 4 - I’m guessing everyone was like me trying to avoid the after-work rush. It’s truly hard to believe this thing will be as big as the hype, but we’ll see.</p>

<p>S2’s flight to SFO apparently took off from Boston this morning. I don’t think they would’ve allowed a non-stop flight to take off if it couldn’t land on the other end. Maybe that’s a good sign. Of course, he has an hour’s drive from SFO to his destination.</p>

<p>He also has a long flight…and the winds are supposed to subside earlier than originally thought.</p>

<p>We have flash flood warnings in San Rafael, Novato, Petaluma and Rohnert Park for the next 3 hours.</p>

<p>Traffic is light.</p>

<p>Power is out in parts of the Marina and Richmond districts.</p>

<p>It was 68 downtown, and the official all time record of 65 for the day was set at Seatac. I will happily trade the weather with you, wis! We need your citrus. :)</p>

<p>Rooting for ya, West Coasters! Good for you for getting ready and taking this seriously. Your storm should reach Denver (where I live) by Sunday with some much needed snow. Meantime, here’s hoping for minimal floods and damage for you. </p>

<p>A moment ago, my cell phone was buzzing like crazy. I thought it was another Amber alert. It turns out it is flash flooding alert. Is it really that serous if you are in the bay area? There is some rain for sure. But I do not think it is very serious if you just drive in the city.</p>

<p>There is flooding all over San Francisco. I read on Twitter they’re closing the Embarcadero, not the freeway but the bayfront, because seas are cresting the seawalls. One tweet said that with all the power outages in SF, driving is like playing Frogger.</p>

<p>We had three inches of rain here on Tuesday…it was a yucky day.</p>

<p>BUT we did not have high winds…and that can make all the difference. Plus I live inland…so no ocean to deal with.</p>

<p>In some places around here, we’re getting rain at a rate of four inches an HOUR.</p>

<p>Just drove 10 miles to see a doctor. Road is flooded but passable. </p>

<p>artlovers-- South Bay? North Bay? Peninsula? I hear 280 has significant flooding in SF and San Mateo counties.</p>

<p>Part of the issue is that a majority of the central valley/bay hasn’t seen rain like this in over a year. Half these people probably have forgotten what it looks like! I think this is one of the main causes for the commotion. </p>
