Storm of the decade for San Francisco

<a href=“Hurricane-Force Winds, Torrential Rain Forecast For What Could Be Storm Of The Decade - CBS San Francisco”>http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2014/12/09/hurricane-force-80-mile-per-hour-winds-torrential-rain-forecast-for-what-could-be-storm-of-the-decade/

Talk about a shower for the city!

I am about an hour and half NE of SF, and we are going to be getting the same storm coming through…we have travel plans Thursday night and Friday night. So, I am a little concerned to say the least! :/

D at Davis just told me she wants to get a flashlight. Since they are expecting power outages.
Other D is in S F

Just texted my brother. He texted back, “Ok.”

Just got back from a quick trip to the city. I always drive along the Great Highway to see the ocean. Between 10:30 when we arrived (waves were BIG) and the time we left (2:30) they closed the road on the seaward side, blowing sand. They are also moving sand by truck from one side to the other. Waves in the Horizon looked like huge ships. Always fun. Not much wind at home yet.

My D has been on a road trip since the day after Thanksgiving however. Today they need to drive north 600 miles from Yosemite.
And I just got done raking up the neighbors willow that hangs over our backyard, I suppose I could have waited.

Schools in SF, Marin and Oakland have been closed for tomorrow.

Getting a bit windy here…and has started sprinkling…a bit earlier than had been expected…

S2 and FDIL are supposed to fly into SF tomorrow. They’re looking for a place to live in the East bay area. I don’t know what will happen to their plans if their flight is canceled or how they’ll drive around if somehow they get to SF.

I suggested to my messy D that she straighten up her room to prevent accidents in case of a power outage.

Bought 3 flashlights…a friend is working a 24 shift to prep for the storm…

The drought in Marin has to be over…

Perhaps this lnk will go through.

Mass is a prof of atmospheric sciences at the UW and has published a recent book on Northwest weather.
Anyway, he commented that it was 65 F today at SeaTac, warmest day in December, ever.

Where is it coming from?

Keep us upated, dstark

I talked to DS in Berkeley. He is happy a storm is coming because it will likely keep the protesters from making a commotion and fouling up traffic around his apartment - lol.

Dang. Couldn’t it have waited until Saturday?

^^^No, my DD is heading to SantaCon on Saturday!

I’m still traumatized by Santacon participants that invaded a gallery event a couple years ago in Seattle.
( a few of them were involved in a fetish sex act, that I really could done without seeing)

Reminds me: as part of certification for emergency response, we were told to get lanterns. So I did research and found this, though there are many other good choices: Lantern. It really does last a freakishly long time and is ridiculously bright on high. Sort of amazing when you consider how quickly the old flashlights went through batteries. This only needs 3 D batteries.

Katliamom, the weather is very calm right now . Calm before the storm.

No rain here yet. The weather report says tomorrow between 7 am and 1 pm will be the critical time for our part of the bay area.
