Our 12 year old stove gave out. Anything new and exciting we should be looking for as far as features go? We have a very basic white gas standalone stove now with a horrible feature of having the broiler at the very bottom, below the oven, where a drawer should be. Not sure if it is fixable but H is taking this as his opportunity to replace it since he has always hated it. (It came with the house.)

i have no recommendations but we also have a 12-year-old gas range in our kitchen that has given out…and we are starting to look around…for a little while, I fantasized that I’d find a Viking stove on Craig’s List that had been purchased for a wealthy subdivision that was never built…and I would pick it up 50% off…but no luck yet. :)

^You crack me up. If there is one to be had around here, H would have already found it. He loves nothing better than to scour Craigslist, especially the free stuff section. We still have working burners so dinner is still doable, but takes some extra creativity.

I’m all ears too. I don’t mind those broiler drawers, I grew up with them and our cabin in Vermont still has one. My current stove has a warming drawer, but I never use it, I just store roasting pans and racks in it. I do have a warming area between the burners that I use all the time, but now that I’m considering a new stove I’m thinking about getting a stove with a fifth larger burner in the middle. Blue Star makes one with a “French Top” in the middle for simmering. I’ve been reading about it and am not convinced I need one.

We have a gas cooktop and electric oven. Ours are separate, but they have them combined. I just googled it. I like this combination because I’ve found gas ovens to be uneven and gas cooktops are so easy to regulate.

I have a dual-fuel stove – gas on top, electric oven. The one feature I never thought I would use but absolutely love is the fitted griddle. The best part is that the stove from Craigslist cost me less than the list price of the griddle.

I have an older version of this Maytag Gemini, which has 2 ovens in the space of a traditional 30" range. Love it! The upper oven is just one rack and is also the broiler. It heats up quickly and is perfect for frozen pizza, fries, etc. the lower over is traditional size and I choose the convection option. There is no storage drawer. It’s not cheap, but completely worth it. I find I use both ovens simultaneously at least once/week.

Our cook top and ovens are separate. Love the gas cooktop. Works when the power goes out!

We had double oven we just replaced in a hurry. Ended up with same ovens we had in there as they HAD to fit in the space so no real shopping around.

The new ovens have the heating element hidden in the floor of the oven. Will make for an easy clean up and states you can steam clean the oven by pouring water in the bottom and heating it up or clean with high heat.

In the old ovens the oven cleaning feature got so hot it would fry the electronics and also warped the touchpad panel. It is a known problem so be careful.

They have put a fan in the new oven and vent the heat differently.

These ovens have an 8 loop broiler in the top but so far I have not been able to broil a steak to my liking. Oven also takes a full 15 minutes to preheat and cooks much faster than my old one.

These are GE profile.

Whatever oven you choose google is your friend looking for reviews and problems.

Have fun hunting!

I would give anything to have our old stove oven combo back with the little side oven. All dials and still going strong after decades in many homes.

I HATE these new appliances. Our new clothes washer is a loser.
