I am shocked…happy, but shocked. I ran for my school’s prom queen, but it was supposed to be a joke- so it stopped being funny when I actually made top 5, people started saying they’d vote for me, and posters with my name on them kept randomly appearing throughout campus.

When I won it was so unreal- I’m such a nerd and I’m all into school, so it’s weird. Plus, the other candidates were the typical pretty girls everyone loves- you can imagine their hater faces.

So yes, you too can be the prom queen!

DITTO!

Except I won Winter Formal Princess, which is basically a Prom for the whole school =]

NERDY ROYALTY UNITE!

Edit:
OH and yeahhh those girls were PRETTY DARN MAD =] which made it ALL THE MORE SWEETER!

Hehe.

My closest moment to glory was when I got to be a homecoming candidate for one of my ECs because every other qualified female was already a candidate for something else.

I rode down main street in a very dirty dodge van, got to wear a sash, and got a rose out of the deal. Didn’t win though, but the girl who did wasn’t expected and there were a few peeved and disappointed girls, I believe.

Being prom queen or king means nothing. Just means that you have an attractive face. That’s it. So don’t be too happy girls!

Sounds like somebody didn’t win.

Congrats on winning

OMG! someone i know = similar example–i’ll PM you :)

Yay! Nerdy girls unite!

At my school most people who wind up becoming homecoming king/queen (no prom royalty) are not necessarily the most attractive people, they’re the people who are most well-liked. Its easy to say “oh, i could never be homecoming king/queen because i’m not attractive enough” but honestly it has nothing to do with your looks, it’s about how much people like you.

no doubt, it doesn’t matter what you look like in most schools. Our prom queen this year was by most standards, fairly overweight. However, she was very well-liked as the goofy class clown, she was friendly to everyone, had loads of school spirit etc.

pfft. At our school, we don’t campaign for prom. It’s not normal, there aren’t posters, etc, same for homecoming. It’s kind of an unwritten law. You vote for who you want without any candidate influence. The girl who won prom queen this year campaigned. When she was announced, everyone was just dumbfounded.

It’s one thing if you win just because people like you, it’s another if you shove yourself into someone’s face.

Everyone started calling it a BS prom. Most of the people there didn’t clap. It was… sad.

Basically Homecoming queen and Prom Queen were both anchors from the broadcast dept. this year and they conned the underclassmen into voting for them. The seniors were like, “ugh.”

I understand it if it’s a school where campaigning is the norm, but everyone was pretty PO’ed. They weren’t even highly likable people. People just saw them on the TV a lot without knowing them IRL.

you wanna go out? lol

At my school only teachers vote for prom king and queen. Is that normal?

^ I don’t think so, that seems kind of odd.

Dude, people at your school RUN for being prom queen?! That’s insane, I think ours just kind of appears out of nowhere, haha.

I won homecoming price my freshman year. But I think I won because I was QB of the football team. But then I got hurt. Now I read all the time and am going to UChicago.
