Hey,
I’m a British student currently taking my A levels, and I have just finished year 12/junior year of high school. I’m currently taking 4 subjects: Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics. Throughout the year I’ve gotten straight As in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, but I’ve gotten straight Cs in Economics.
My school doesn’t use a GPA system, so I’m not sure how bad my GPA is as a result.
How badly will this affect my chances of getting into universities such as UChicago (which is my reach school)?
H.A
C’s aren’t good, but they aren’t necessarily the be all end all.
Anything can be the end-all-be-all when a school has a 7.6% acceptance rate.
If you didnt know A=4 B=3 C=2, add up all of your semester grades based on that, and then divide it by the number of classes. that will give you a gpa. the average gpa for Chicago is 3.76
I think I have an average gpa of 3.5 (4 classes - 3 As and 1 C).
So that makes me 0.26 below the average gpa for Chicago.

Your GPA is calculated over your four years of high school, though, not just junior year. And, adjustments are made for different countries’ grading standards.
