Strange Names

<p>Jason Lee named his son Pilot Inspektor. That was an interesting one.</p>

<p>I knew someone named Mary Christmas. She was married to Mr. Christmas so it was not a case of her parents playing a cruel joke on her.</p>

<p>I know a Patty Hamburger – her married name, not cruel parents.</p>

<p>Alright, this is for the absolutely most shocking name ever. When I was at a military school we had people from all services there. There was a Navy service member who, when his rank was put before his last name as is customary, was:</p>

<p>Seaman Guzzler</p>

<p>I couldn’t help but bust out laughing the second he passed me. Poor guy - he must get that way too much.</p>

<p>In the baby announcements in the local paper today. Twins River Sea and Indie Ocean. Also another odd one is the kid named Luck.</p>

<p>I went to middle school with a girl named Debbie who was one of three sisters being raised by a widowed father. She entered puberty early and became very <em>ahem</em> voluptuous before she was 12. Her last name? Pickup. I kid you not. (the poor girl, and the poor dad…)</p>

<p>I went to school with a Cris Cross. I know of a child in our town named Precious Angel. My husband knew a guy named Buster Cherry. We know someone whose girlfriend named her twins Bill and Billy … really original, huh? And for the winner … one my husband and a friend found in the phonebook several years ago … Haywood Jablome. I’m not kidding.</p>

<p>In high school my classmate, a boy, was named Robin Hood.</p>

<p>My old landlord was Scott Free.</p>

<p>I went to school with Rose Busch and Turna Paige. I think both of them drank heavily.</p>

<p>My cousin used to teach at GW Carver High School in Chicago and I got one of their senior t-shirts. Interesting names there: Clittelle (really), Phillistine (what were her parents thinking?), Biggie Dickey. poor kids.</p>

<p>A family in my hometown had 5 girls:</p>

<p>Wanda, Rhonda, Vonda, Londa, and Donda.</p>

<p>Donda? Gag me. Sounds like a mispronounciation by a two year old!</p>

<p>In Germany, you can name your child only government approved names. I assume that is so in some other countries, Norway comes to mind. Looking at these names, it doesn’t seem such a bad idea!</p>

<p>My neighbor has triplets: Garry, Kerry, Mary… they all go by their middle names, Sean, Michelle, Mikayla, Thanks be to God.</p>

<p>I just remembered this: When I had my twins, there was another lady who was in our “Mothers of Multiples” group who had boy and girl twins named Christen and Christopher. That was nuts.</p>

<p>People need to not let mothers name kids while high on pain meds. End of story.</p>

<p>Love Turna Paige, by the way. And the -onda family. Wow. America makes me so sad sometimes.</p>

<p>knew a chiropractor, Dr. Payne, and a very attractice girl in college whose last name was Wonderleigh. Leigh was pronounced lay. Gee, I wonder if she got teased about her sexual prowess?</p>

<p>My Dad used to see a urologist whose name was Dr. Stiff. His partner’s name was Dr. Black. I still laugh every time I drive past their office. Drs. Stiff and Black.</p>

<p>I remember a boy from college: Hunter Fanny</p>

<p>My husband has distant relatives: Joseph Josephs and Joseph Josephs, Jr. </p>

<p>I had a friend who was a Teaching Assist in grad school. He had two sisters in one of his classes - their names were pronounced “Le-MON-jew-eece” and “Or -AHN -jew-eece” but spelled “Lemonjuice” and “Orangejuice.” </p>

<p>Freakonomics has a chapter with two brothers, named “Winner” and “Loser.” Loser graduated from Lafayette College and had a successful career. I think Winner became a drug-addicted felon (I’d have to check the book, though).</p>

<p>I have seen the same as Lafalum except it was Lemonjello and Orangejello.</p>
