Strangest interview story?

What’s your/someone else’s weirdest interview experience?

From the other side of the interview;

I am an alumni interviewer, and my strangest was when I had a junior (at the beginning of junior year) do an interview (instead of the normal beginning of senior year)…usually you start doing your leadership activities in junior year and he hadn’t done any and I remember thinking this guy is a follower, not a leader, but by the end of the interview I had figured it out.

My interviewer at an out-of-state school grew up in the town next to mine.

I go to school in Oklahoma and was doing a Skype interview for an internship. We had arranged the date and time a few weeks in advance. The day of the interview a tornado watch was issued in my county and during the Skype interview the sirens went off alerting people in my area to take immediate shelter. I had to cut the interview short by about 15 minutes, since I valued not getting wiped off the face of the Earth more than any internship. Somehow I still got an offer for the position.

I learned that the only people I hear say the word “schlep” are from Portland, Oregon. This wasn’t stated to me, it’s just an observation that started at that interview.

Also Jews.

I was interviewing for an internship, and the entire team I’d working with (6 people) was there. One guy introduced himself as “the team jacka**” - definitely not what I was expecting him to say!

I knew right away we’d be bros if I got the interview, and I was right - I’ve been working for 3 days and he is undoubtedly my favorite coworker - we have the exact same personality/sense of humor.

The interviewer makes eye contact with you only about 10% of the time because he’s too busy picking lint off his jacket, playing with his tie, or tapping away on his laptop.
