strategy section

I realized that in MOST ACT/SAT prep books that in the beginning that they have a section on these strategies and stuff… should I bother reading it if I read something similar to it in a different book, because honestly I’m just going straight for the tests .

Depends on your level. If you are under 2000, I do recommend reading the strategies as you can pick up some useful ones. (Beware though, the skills in the prep books may not be intuitive for you). If you can usually pick up what the question is asking for, then go straight for the practice tests.

You’ve got it backwards. The only thing the prep books are good for is strategy, test taking tips and content. For tests, only use real college board material.
