Strength of Schedule?

In HS, Adcoms want to see strength of schedule. Is it the same in college? Will I get points off for taking Rock N Roll History when I could’ve taken Ancient Literature or Leisure Studies instead of Asian History?

This isn’t my situation (actually, the first part is lol), but I was just curious.

For graduate school, admissions committees will only really care about the courses within your major. The difficulty of your gen ed courses or your out-of-major electives won’t really be a concern.

Within your major, it’s certainly better to have taken the most advanced classes possible in your major, including graduate-level courses if available.
