I just received an application deferment, until the next round of decisions, from my ULTIMATE school. I really want to get accepted there! Does anyone have any suggestions as to things that I can do to try to strengthen my application. I already have 3 teacher recommendation letters and sent extra documents, such as school essays that I have written, newspaper articled that I wrote, etc. Any ideas???

The thicker the file, the thicker the student.
Stop sending random additions to your application, focus on your schoolwork and grades and hope for the best.

^agreed. do the “minimum” requirements for the school (2 letters of rec. no extra supp’s unless necessary), but make those requirements absolutely fabulous.

The correct response to a deferment is “shoot, I hope I get in RD”. Not “shoot, I guess I need to send in more stuff so they like me”.

I don’t know. For me, I think it makes sense that he would try to make him better although time is really limited.
You can’t really fix your grades now, if it is possible at all.
And, not getting in early will probably mean not getting in regular, so it makes sense that he focuses on trying whatever he can.

^Yes, but it does not make sense doing stuff that would simply annoy adcoms…I mean, if they’ve got a good idea of the applicant from two recs and however many essays he’s already submitted, chances are they aren’t going to get any more insight from more, especially if they are repetitious in content.

What school is it? That’s important info to post in order to get useful comments. For instance, top private colleges care about ECs. Public schools in general don’t care about ECs, but make decisions based on stats and state of residence.
