I was accepted to Cornell ILR!!! I am super excited. However, I am concerned with the stress, the depression, and the weather.

For people that are there or have went, how did you handle these things? Is it tolerable? With my AP’s coming I have been really stressed and realized I am a MONSTER when stressed and I don’t want to be that way all year.

First of all, you’re a senior. Don’t worry about your APs too much!
Secondly, bump/I think there was a thread about this earlier (though I am too lazy to find it).

The weather’s bleak and miserable from November til mid-March but honestly it’s good for you. Tough climates make tough people and you’ll find that you’re a stronger person upon graduation when you move to a city/town that doesn’t astronomically suck.

ILR isn’t stressful at all, no need to worry. According to my ILR friends, the biggest source of stress in the program is fashioning a schedule that leaves you with no class on Mondays and Fridays (common among ILR seniors).

Anyway, don’t stress about something pointless like APs.

caillebotte, the entire Northeast has a somewhat similar weather pattern, although upstate NY
may be a bit more intense.
An inner city school probably makes you a tougher person than a school on a rural mountain.
In terms of ILR vs another school at cornell or elsewhere, the OP should look at what school is the best fit for his/her desired major and go from there.
Good luck.

read about techniques for dealing with stress (this is not a time-consuming endeavor) and then practice them. if you know that you’re prepared to deal with a stressful time, whether or not it’s directly caused by Cornell/Ithaca, you’ll be more confident in general. you can try it during the summer. the things that you say to yourself and the way you treat yourself are important, and since it seems like you are in fine health (like you are not experiencing any severe issues that might need medical treatment), you aren’t just at the whim of this stress-induced “monster.”
