Okay its my senior year and i have to start getting ready to apply for colleges, but im STRESSEDDD!! im not a genius so ive only taken one ap class and that ap calc ab. The rest is honrs and cp
i dont have much ecs either. I help my parents out at their restaurant everyday instead and i have no time for ecs at all!! The first time i took the sats i got 1540 but ive studied everyday this summer for 3 hours some days 2 hours others and some times just 1 hour. My dad wants me to go to harvard lol but i keep telling him how im not even qualified for that!! I told him i will get rejected but he still wants me to apply -_- someone make me feel better!! :(

It is a stressful time but you can help it by identifying your safeties and match schools first. Tell your Dad that a pramatic approach is to identify the 3 categories and pick the safety and match schools first, then just take a flyer at a couple of reaches. I’d say it is too much a reach for Harvard just based on the SAT, but just humor your Dad right now.

Do talk to your Father about finances and how much he can pay.

Do look at your state flagship school and see if that is an easy in for you or not. Start looking at schools that match your gpa and sat that you have now, and that fit the type of school that you’d like to go with–find a nice selection of match schools. If your school doesn’t offer many AP’s then don’t worry, but if they do, then likely you aren’t going to get consideration by the tippy top schools. Don’t worry about that, there are MANY fine schools you will be happy at. Dealing with Dad may be more difficult, try to include him in the search and tell him that school is about more than Parent’s bragging rights. It’s about your life and going to a place that will help you be successful in your studies.

If you must work, and you have no time for EC’s, the schools will understand that and take it into consideration. Working shows responsibility, comittment, and perhaps need. But in your Essay’s somewhere, you want to find a way to tell them what you are really interested and drawn to, either academically or EC-wise.
