Missy, I would also worry about her ability to function outside of classes in college. These kids all know how to go to school. The things they need to learn is to be responsible, productive folks during the out of the class hours.

That sounds remarkably like my fiancee’s parents around the time we were that age. They came around eventually, but hoo boy did they make high school dating a challenge. Good thing we were persistent. :-)

Some kids just don’t tell their parents anything on a personal level.

My S who is a sophomore in College tells me zilch about galpals. Being a westernized Mom, I have often mentioned to him that he should feel free to talk about girlfriend related issues to me. But I get nada from him. He wants to tell me about is his school, grades, professors but nothing about his personal life.

Yet when I call him, I can hear all his friends in the background. It kills me to know nothing about his galpals.

Bottom line - Some kids don’t WANT to tell their parents such stuff even if parents are open minded.
