Hi everyone! hope everything is going well for everyone. I’m currently a junior in high school. I’m an only child. Anything would be appreciated. Thank you.

Parental income will not limit your prospects for many of the country’s academically strongest colleges:

Your grades are excellent. Prepare well for the SATs or ACTs. Don’t worry about ECs at this point. In your essay, write about yourself, and why your family situation limited your opportunity to do them, and how you chose to focus on academics.

You haven’t told us where you live, so it’s hard to advise on your in-state options. That would be helpful.

In the meantime, start researching these schools:

This isn’t the newest list, so it may not be 100% accurate, but it will steer you in the right direction. Good luck!

Being a low income student, you’d actually end up paying less at some of the nation’s top 30 private Unis than you would at even your state flagship school.

Higher schools have wonderful aid. For example I’m by no means very low income but we make about 65,000 and I only have to pay 2,000 for U Chicago or Swarthmore. Which I can pay for myself by getting a part time job during school. Definitely talk about your situation in essays and emphasize how living in a lower income family has changed you or helped you become a better person. Also look up Questbridge. They can seriously help pay for college and give you a few more essays to show how living in a lower income has changed your life.
