Hi all,
I am a junior in high school with an interest in pursuing business, but I have played piano my whole life and am unwilling to give that up in college. My academics are good enough to be competitive for selective schools. I would prefer a smaller school, but I am not against applying to larger schools. What college recommendations do you have?

Most selective colleges will have distinguished adjunct piano faculty with whom you could study. First look for economics, finance, or business at smaller schools, and then check out their adjunct faculty in piano. On the West Coast, take a look at the Claremont Colleges, particularly Claremont McKenna. You could also always continue studying privately outside of college if you choose a college within reach of a major metropolitan area.
Ask schools if they have a music scholarship for non-music majors, as Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania does. It’s only $1,000 per year, but it also includes weeekly piano lessons and a chance to play with music majors in concerts. My daughter is really excited she’s going to get to keep playing jazz piano when she starts there in the fall.
