My Daughter is trying to get in to a very good school in New York, she has a weighted 3.8 GPA and has taken many IB courses. However due to having APD ( Audio Processing Disorder) she struggles with Standarize test SAT 1050 and ACT 22. In addition she was recruited to play D1 Volleyball at the school. She is a hard worker who has gone to some tutor without any success. At this point the school would like to see 1250 on SAT or 27 on ACT how realistic as a senior would it be to get to those scores or should we be looking at other options?
I guess I would say ask the Coach. Is it a school that requires the SAT? Forgive me if I dont fully understand but how does audio processing affect a written test?
Has she enrolled in a prep course? Or had a test prep tutor?
What’s her unweighted GPA?
Has she taken precalculus or is she taking it right now? Statistics? What English and social science/history has she taken? Is she in IB HL English or history?
1050->1250 is a very tall ordeal. How much time does she have to get there? Is she a junior or a senior? If a senior, it’s probably impossible to get to that score in about a month.
That will be a tough increase to do in the next month or two, assuming she has to apply early as an athletic recruit. Has she qualified for extra time on either the SAT or ACT (not sure if APD qualifies)? Is there a large variance in section scores in one or both of the tests? If so, perhaps there is an opportunity to focus on only the lower scoring sections, and get an increase via superscoring (of course, her school would have to superscore).
