Strong points of your application: public opinion

All schools have different requirements. Yet, the factors taken in consideration by each admission comitee are quite similar:

GRE general score

GRE subject score

TOEFL score

SoP

LoR

Research experience

Articles

GPA

I know that each of these completely failed is fatal. But it is very interesting to form an average picture of the hierarchy of applicaton components importance.

For me it is (from most important to least important):

7
6
5
4
8
2
1
3

And what’s your opinion?

I’ve been told by a professor or two that has been on an admissions committee for quite a while now that he’s stopped bothering with reading statements of purpose. He says they all pretty much fall into the same couple of categories and rarely set people apart. That said, he’s a pretty lazy guy.

I think GPA should be above SOP and GRE general should be above subject coz most of the schools dun even require you to take it…

everything else looks fine…

The requirement of a subject GRE requires a lot on what field you’re going in to. For example, I didn’t have to take a GRE subject test for Materials Science, but a few of my friends with the same advisor who came in through Physics had to take the physics subject test.
