Stuck in a Competive School...

Hey, just wondering how I’m doing as far as if I might get into college or not here.

A little background info, I’m a junior, active in ITS for 3 years, a Charter Member for Key club, and I’m on the staff of my Creative writing club, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be Editor-in- Chief next year.

As far as grades go I’ve taken AP classes since I was a freshman and I’m enrolled in the Gifted and Talented course. I scored a 3 on my AP Human Geography test, a 4 on my AP World history and currently I’m taking AP Psych, US History, and AP English III. Also I’m planning on going into French V my senior year.

Despite all this my grades are…okay. I get mainly B’s but I’ve had a fair share of C’s. I have 3.9 on a weighted scale of 6.0, and unfortunately I’m somewhere in the 300’s out of 600 in my class ranking. I feel like my class rank is going to determine whether or not I get into college and I’m really worried about it since I’m friends with most of the top 10% and that’s all they’re talking about. My school is highly competitive as far as grades go, and I feel like I’m going to get swallowed up by all of it…

What are my real chances of getting into college?

lets just say…be more realistic in your colleges that you want to get into

because based on what u just said, the top 10-15 colleges will be unlikely for you to get into

Yeah, I figured. I’m fine with going anywhere at this point, but something above a community college would be nice. I’m considering state schools ( I live in Texas) and I’d be happy with going to UT or one of the satellite schools.
