I feel stuck on campus. I go to a small college that is in the suburbs. I grew up in the suburbs so I thought it would not be a problem but i feel like i am stuck here. I have to uber to go anywhere like CVS and obviously I can not afford to do that all the time. Back at home I had my own car and I liked being able to go out and explore. I feel as though I had more freedom back at home than I do at college. Did anyone else experience this? Im getting so bored I walked 2 miles to a small supermarket the other day. I can’t be stuck on a small campus anymore.
Walking two miles is actually a pretty good thing to do.
College is a time to reinvent yourself. You’ll no longer be that guy who got into a car every time he got bored.You’ll be a guy who joins, creates fun, participates, produces, organizes, builds, cooks, hikes…;
Have you joined clubs? In particular 1° charity/volunteering groups and 2° outdoors clubs?
Feeling “stuck” is a state of mind. Most freshman do not have cars on campus because parking is almost always an issue no matter where you go to school. Walking to get places can be amazing depending on how you look at it. You notice things that you never see when you whiz by in a car. If the climate doesn’t create too many barriers where you are, you also might consider getting a bike.
@need2go You could invest in a bicycle or use public transit (if available).
Buy a bike. Put a basket on it if you want. Or use a large backpack when you bike to CVS or to the grocery store. It’ll make you more mobile and biking 2 miles isn’t that far.
Check and see if your school has some kind of “loop bus” that takes you places locally. Many do.
Why not just bring your car?
Most colleges try to keep you entertained and busy enough to not really feel the need to leave campus all the time. Agree with MYOS1634 that the answer could be to get more involved in clubs and organizations.
