Student Alumni Association?

I just received an invitation in the mail to sign my D up for the Student Alumni Association- at a cost of $20 for one year or $70 for four years.

The mailer says that by joining she will receive a t shirt, 16 oz glass and SAA key card for event access. What special events does SAA hold?

Do you recommend joining the SAA?

I think we joined for year one and haven’t since. I don’t think there is much to it, pamom59. There may be a tailgate at a football game.

No. All they do is their own tailgate for Football games (and Pitt students can just go on their own and get FREE tailgate packs if they go early enough) and every now and then they’ll have a free picnic thing on campus. “Free” as in “your fee paid for this”. Really not worth it.

thanks to both of you! I’ll save my money!

One thing they do is the alumni dinner - Dinner with 12 Panthers. It’s a great networking tool. They also host a semi-formal dance in December - the Cathedral Ball. My daughter joined last year and attended the Dinner with 12 Panthers. She enjoyed that. She did not, however, attend the dance. That being said, I don’t believe she is going to join again this year.

Here’s a youtube of the Cathedral Ball, so you sort of have an idea what that is: [‪Pitt Student Alumni Association - Cathedral Ball 2010‬‏ - YouTube](<a href=“Pitt Student Alumni Association - Cathedral Ball 2010 - YouTube”>Pitt Student Alumni Association - Cathedral Ball 2010 - YouTube)
