in filling out the UChicago financial aid application, i have to complete a section entitled Student Assets: Personal Property

it says “List below all real and personal property that you hold or that is in trust for you. (Use the Additional Information section if necessary.)” so these should be answered, according to my parents?

There is a Student Assets section and a Parent’s Assets section. The student assets are about the student - “you” being the student. Are the assets/trusts actually in your name - not your parents. I hope this helps.

I’m not sure exactly what you are asking. I am sure there is a place to report both Student and parent Assets. Student Assets would be things owned by you like Bank accounts in your (the student) name, Stocks, Bonds, Trust Funds, real estate. Some assets might be yours but with a parent as trustee if you are a minor - for instance my son had some stocks and some bonds that had to have a parent as trustee while he was a minor. These are owned by you and would be reported as student assets. Parent Assets would be Assets they own an would be reported as Parent assets.
