I was wondering what everyone’s thoughts were on student created majors? It seems as if most schools offer the option now, and I thought it would be neat to compare ideas with other students and get some constructive criticism.

I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma who’s just starting to look into the Multidisciplinary Studies Major, which basically consists of 120 hours of completely self-selected classes (50% of them Upper Division) organized around a common theme.
My focus is on the study of human potential, both physical and mental. The schedule that I’ve put together consists mostly of science classes such as genetics and bio-mechanics, as well as psychology and sociology classes which deal with development and motivation of ideas and their implementation into society. I’m also minoring in Economics, but that’s more of a side interest.
(Honestly a rather large portion of my courses comes from the Health and Exercises Sciences Major, and so I’m also looking at just majoring in that with several minors.)

As far as careers go, I’m looking into being a teacher and coach, possibly at the University Level (for teaching).
