ok, this may seem an obvious question but I am very curious about its results.

I heard a homeschooled student didn’t submit the required two SAT subject tests (for NYU, not sure what area he was applying to) but only gave them the SAT.
He did it by accident because he didn’t realise it or something.
But seriously, what would the college admissions do? Wouldn’t they just throw his application out? Or would they accept it? hmmmmmm

Probably throw it out because it was an incomplete application. Standardized testing is doubly important w/ homeschoolers because it offers a basis of comparison.

Well NYU doesn’t require any SAT subject tests if you submitted the SAT…

But it’s different for home-schoolers, they have to submit SAT IIs as well I think…
And yes, they would just throw it out because it’s “incomplete”. They throw out ALL applications that are “incomplete”.

But they also notify students if they’re missing part of their application. So I’d recommend they call the admissions office and ask. If they are missing that and it’s necessary, then the admissions office should’ve called or emailed. If they didn’t, it’s not the student’s fault…

Yeah… they should have emailed the student about it

waiiit… im assuming for homeschooled kids they need sat iis, you can just submit the sat reasoning test by itself otherwise, right??

I think most colleges will notify you if they’re missing any parts of your application. Send in those subject tests NOW just in case. But if he hasn’t taken any yet, don’t bother. By the time he gets them taken (since January registrations are filling up quickly), I doubt that NYU will be able to receive them. Sorry :(

Thanks for all the responses guys!
But we just found out that NYU only requires the SAT for home schooled students. It’s almost exactly the same as “normal” students (which is fair), only you have to send some certificate as well.

I was homeschooled. I don’t recall having to submit subject tests as part of my application. I did, simply because I took them and did quite well on two of the three I took, but I didn’t see it stated. I believe you only had to submit the SAT Reasoning score along with your state’s Homeschooler’s Accreditation Agency diploma information.
