Student employment

Does anyone know the best prospects for student employment? I would like my D, an incoming first-year, to get a job, but only for about 5-10(at most) hours a week. It would just be for some spending money.

My D at another college works at the gym. The hours are flexible and she gets a free gym membership. (Her school charges students a fee for working out at a gym. I do not know if Bucknell does. My S’s school does not.)

Any ideas?

no gym fees at bucknell!

in terms of employment, on-campus job opportunities can be found on mybucknell. as youd expect, they tend to run the gamut from office and athletic team assistants to admissions jobs to alumni callers. most of the best stuff is typically filled by returning students, but places like the campus box office typically hire heavily at the beginning of every year. your daughter will receive a barrage of emails, as well.

so if she wants a job, and isnt too picky, she should be fine. bucknell being in lewisburg, the less annoying jobs dont pay well. but as you would expect, students dont need a ton of spending money, either.

on the hours issue, theyre typically either clearly outlined from the get-go (the library may need someone who can work thursday mornings) or very flexible.

Thanks! By the way, what is the campus box office? The Weiss Center?
