Student ID??

To apply for dining plans, you need a student ID, but I don’t think I have access to it at the moment. Does it come with the housing assignment packet? Please help!!!

If not so, where else can we check our student ID?

Student ID is your Social Security Number. Since the SSN is a sensitive information, that’s why they only ask for the last 4 digits (for verification purposes) in the dining form by putting xxx-xx- format.

Do you know by any chance how it goes for international students, since they dont have SSN?

The letter I received with my housing/roommate had my cmu card ID # (which was also the same number of digits as a SSN) - put that maybe? although im not sure how that would help them.

so the cmu card ID is the student ID?

because my cmu card ID comes up on the SIO

I don’t know how things work these days since I graduated long ago, but, back in my days, we used to get a provisional CMU card ID number until we got our own SSN. SSN application forms and instructions were handed out during international student orientation week.

Why don’t you contact the Office of International Education ? They might be able to assist you. Otherwise, currently enrolled or other newly-admitted international students may give you more up-to-date information.

sang10518 - If you look at the “Medical Insurance Waiver Form”, one of the columns ask for “SSN#, or a 9-digit number starting with 999 or 700”, I supposed they would assign the international student with one of those number, do you have that?

i have something beginning with 999, i guess that would be it. Thanks!
