Job title is “Student Intern” and in the description it requires: “Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.”
Would I be making a fool of myself if I applied to this job when I have already graduated with my bachelors degree in December '16? This is a state job and it involves assisting others with work that needs to be done in the office.
I would like to apply for it, but I do not want look like I’m disregarding their search of a “student status”, I just believe I have all the right qualifications sans the fact that I’ve graduated recently. The application does require a cover letter, in which I would explain my situation and stance.
No, there is no shame in doing an internship after graduation. I’ve had friends who have successfully converted to fulltime after taking a internship after graduation.
However… I don’t think you are eligible to even apply. The description says you need to be enrolled in a “post-secondary educational school” which will be not at the time of the internship. (Unless you are graduating college)
Even if you did miraculously get past the HR screening and interview, It wouldn’t take long for someone to find out you were in violation of the requirements. How can they trust you work your work requirements if you aren’t honest on your job application to start?
If your qualifications already align with the position I would recommend applying to the corresponding full time opportunity in that company.
