<p>Who’da thunk a place with the slogan “where fun goes to die” would have such a rep! I am shocked and appalled, sir!</p>
<p>Does U of C really have such a negative image in the first place? I always took it as poking a bit of fun at itself.</p>
<p>Back in the day, it was a little bit of fun and a little bit of truth. Now the phrase seems to be more in jest, but Chicago has a ways to go before it can rival the student life found at places such as Yale or or Stanford.</p>
<p>babszooka-- Yes and no. The University community is very diverse personality-wise, and students who like to or want to party/socialize frequently are most likely disappointed by the lack of interest/time on behalf of the student body as a whole. I think these are the students Bill Michel is referring to.</p>
