Students drink twice as much when studying abroad

My D wants to study abroad in Australia - not known for their teetotalers.

The ability to drink legally is an appreciated perk for my D this semester in Europe - unfortunately when she gets back, she’ll still have 6 months to go before she is 21. I’ll stop now before I start ranting about that ridiculous US drinking age!

my D went through Europe ( well the UK) on her way home from India last year, but as she mostly took public transportation, she was quite disgusted with the numbers of teens drunk on the tube, even after traveling through Goa.

I dont know what I think about US drinking age, but I think driving age should be 18, not 16.

My D drank a bit in Scotland on study abroad, but she was pretty amazed at how blitzed many American students studying there got. Actually, though, she was mortified by the behavior in general of quite a few young Americans she ran across throughout her travels in Europe.

i’m sure they are “enjoying the local culture”… i thought that was part of the value of study abroad =P

Oh that Onion!

Ive been hesitant to ask if my D sampled bhang which I had never even * heard * of till I watched an episode of * Bones*
I did see a couple shots of her in Goa with some oddly familiar paraphernalia in the hut- but perhaps that was part of being immersed in the culture?
