I am a student at Northeastern University where it is common for students to graduate in 5 years. This is because Northeastern has the co-op program, where students usually hold 2 internship positions throughout college, missing 2 semesters of classes. Many students opt to take summer classes to still graduate in the 4 years, but there are a good amount that take the whole 5. Transfer credits also help offset the longer college span for a school like NEU. Since so many students graduate in 5 years here, the school is very supportive of the whole process and ensures you have a good timeline mapped out to fit your needs.
