<p>Hey, I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with any study abroad programs that they or their colleagues are familiar with in Uzbekistan. If I were to travel there, it would be more for personal reasons rather than academic reasons but still, a strong economics/anthropology program would be preferrable. </p>

<p>I think Uzbekistan is currently on the State Dept travel warning list, so I don’t know that any colleges would allow a study abroad program there. My D (currently in Russia for the summer) is also interested in the “stans” and has been researching programs in Kazakstan (sp) and Kyrgystan (sp).</p>
<p>You might be better off sticking to Russia and then go to Uzbekistan for traveling afterwards once you get the handle of Russian to get around. I’ll bet there are very, very few people who actually speak English there.</p>
