Does anyone know if the student lounges in Mcdonnell have a small kitchen with microwaves? We were hoping to not bring a personal microwave to the dorm. Thanks

You can’t bring one over 750 watts.

wow… this is really bothering me! there are indeed small kitchens on the back walls of the lounges in mcdonnell. there are no microwaves on the countertops. however, i cannot remember if there are microwaves above the stoves.

you may want to pm equine99, as she lived in mcdonnell this past year. otherwise i will ask someone in the next few days and find out.

regardless, id bring a microwave. they really do get used.

Hey thanks, Eric. Housing called me and said that Mcdonnell has microwaves in its study lounge. We are brining a TV, and at this point are not sure how all of this stuff is going to fit in a room. So, I was hoping she could use the study lounge’s as she only expects to make popcorn. I agree that a personal microwave is going to be used, just don’t know if it’ll find room.

ah, wonderful!

keep in mind that youre going to have four options for bed height. many girls who dont want to literally climb in and out of bed put them about three feet off the ground, thus providing a LOT of extra storage. also, many people put their televisions on top of their wardrobes, which is otherwise wasted space.

anyway, unless youre dreaming of a futon, i cant imagine there not being room for a microwave. by general rule: if you can get it there, you will find room for it. ive seen everything from ball pits and palm trees to full length couches and dj (mixing) stations fit seemingly effortlessly into rooms.

Just came back from move in day, and I am happy to report that the study lounges at McDonnell were gorgeous. There was a full sized stove with a microwave on top, nice tv, and all glass walls so that it felt very spacious. I knew that the dorm was newer, but I was still surprised at how clean and well maintained it was.

My son lived in McDonnell his first year. It is a very nice dorm. I’m glad your move-in was successful.

I think the best piece of move-in advice I ever heard was “if it can’t fit in your car, it can’t fit in your room.”
