How is everyone preparing for the Jan. 2015 SAT? Barron’s guides? Princeton review? How many hours/day? 1? 3? 10? I don’t know what and how much I need to do. I am worried. Target Score: 2250 & above. I appreciate any advice you may have.

I am using Barron’s and the Blue book along with practice tests and notes provided by the prep class that I attend. I currently study around 5hrs a week along with at least 1 practice test as I am currently busy with exams and a certain EC. Next week onwards, I plan to devote at least 4 hours a day to SAT prep. I am good at math - scoring 800 on any given day. For writing, I would suggest practicing as much as you can after going through the guides in the blue book and Barron’s. For CR, again, practice is the key to a great score. There are great guides to writing an essay and performing well on the SAT as a whole on CC. Do not forget to go through them. My current test scores are in the range of 2200-2350(I am not sure how accurate is that in predicting my actual score) For the essays, I write at least 4 per week, use the standard 5 paragraph essay and include at least 1 quote in the beginning or the end. This has helped me in raising my score from a 8 to a 11 - which is great considering I am an international who does not speak english at home. For words, I am using a list that my prep classes has provided.

To summarize:

Total hrs per week: 20
Hrs per section: 2 - M, 8 - W, 10 - CR
Thing that I focus most on: Long Passages
Target Score: 2300+(LOL!)
