currently am taking Kaplan SAT classes during the summer… Will take PSAT in fall and SAT in spring… After I take the kaplan SAT class, how should I study for the SAT? People tell me to use the blue book, but is the blue book’s strategies totally different from kaplans? how else should I study for the SAT and PSAT?

I don’t think most people read the strategies in the blue book. Most people use the blue book because its tests are more accurate than those of any other book. Once you take the Kaplan course, I imagine, for you, it’ll really be a matter of practicing rather than learning strategies. Like the strategies in most brands aren’t that different from each other, so I think you should just buy the blue book to practice.

so for the practice tests, should I do each practice test in one sitting (4 HOURS!!!) or should I like do all the math sections first and then check the answers and then the writing and reading sections?

Start with question types, so do a test’s worth of Sentence Completions (for example), go over all the questions that you missed, and see if you can detect any patterns (that’s what we “top” tutors do anyway). Hopefully, you are using a book that has good strategies, Blue Books doesnt, make sure you read the strategies and then repeat with some more problems.

Take a full test sparingly. Taking full tests everyday, just doesnt make sense b/c you need to understand why you are missing question, not just that you missed them. This understanding of why you are missing questions is what will move your score.

But it is crucial to take full tests since the SAT is soooo long.
