If you had a child who was struggling in college, would you pay for a study skills coach?

And if so, what would you want the coach to do?
-help student with time management, study and test taking skills?
-meet weekly to help student organize, plan and stay on track?
-help student find his or her internal motivation?
other ideas?

And how much would you pay?

it think it depends. the child definitely needs to learn those skills now before it’s too late, but then again, they also need to figure it out for themselves. if their years and years of schooling and experience have not prepared them well and they spend all their time partying, then paying good money for a study skills coach is useless. however, if your child has worked hard and tried to stay on track but is unsuccessful, a life skills coach can be helpful.

if you do end up hiring one, i would have the coach help with motivation and put things into perspective for the child rather than help with study skills/ time management. those things will follow soon after if the child’s priorities are straight.

if it’s just a lack of skills in areas such as test taking/ time management, then hire a coach. that plus some more experience in college will do the kid good.
