I know it’s normal for juniors to study abroad, but I was wondering if a lot of seniors did it as well. My situation is that I have to take a certain number of language courses before I qualify to study abroad, and I may not be able to finish all of them by junior year.

One reason that it’s uncommon is that some schools have residency requirements that require you to be on-campus for some or all of the senior year. The logic is that many capstone/culminating/pull-it-all-together experiences, particularly in the major, come during the sr. year and that study-abroad programs are often not good at facilitating such experiences.
