I usually read the book and then use the sparknotes for review.

Freshman year I didn’t study a bit and got okay grades, but I wasn’t taking very hard classes. This year I study a LOT- I definitly think I’d be doing a lot worse if I didn’t.

I’m so bad at studying…I’m the world’s biggest procrastinator, so I’ll make a whole schedule for studying for finals and color it and make it pretty, but I seldom follow it.

I do what it takes to KNOW the material on the coming test. If it takes 10 minutes then I’m done. If it takes 3 hours, then I’m still bookin’ it baby.

^^yes. and knowing WHAT to study is as well. One time i found the exact AP calc test that the teacher used for the midterm (unknowingly of course, from the PR practice Calc test) and guess who curved it?

As Boobie MIles would say, ain’t gotta study, just gotta show up.

But seriously, I’ve never really studied, and it’s only because of procrastination. Like I do all right by being near the top of my class, etc., but I’ve never done amazing (like being Val), or as good as I know I can. I didn’t even study for the SATs (and I bought the book and stuff). I guess it’s a lot of well intentioned stuff (I’m gonna go home and study, yah!!!), but when push come to shove, I never do anything. Which explains why I’m typing away on CC.

“But if i look at a sheet, i will remember exactly where it is on the page and what it usually says”

Same here! I still remember where what specific pages in my book from two years ago looked like…

I used to overstudy for Chem. I would do the review problems that my teacher gave us, then the review problems in the back of the book, then I would outline the key concepts of the chapter. And then, one day my short attention span got the best of me, and I decided that I would rather just go to sleep. And, lo and behold, I did even better on that test! I haven’t studied for Chem since, and it hasn’t hurt me.

I also never study for Math or English. I mean, with Math you either know the material or you don’t, and I have a really good teacher. And, with English, we have open book tests, so…

Envi Sci, French, and History I have to study for, though, because
1- My Envi Sci teacher likes to include percentages and numbers in our tests, along with other insignificant details
2- My French teacher likes to include strange grammatical ‘nuances’ (she loves to say this to us) on our tests that are meant to trick us
and
3- APUSH is APUSH. That’s really the only explanation that’s needed =)

i always feel a bit guilty when my mom says something like “you’re such a hard worker… look at those grades…” i always plan on studying more, but when you dont get b’s or c’s or whatever, you’re not motivated. i remember the first time i did study was when i missed 2 lectures in biology at a college… and i was like, oh man… and studed RIGHT before the exam. but yeah thats it.

Study? What the heck is that? Some sort of religion?

LOL, JK. I never study. I just remember the stuff I hear in class. My memory is good with equations and facts. I can remember almost the whole thing exactly as said. Sometimes I brush up on it for 5-10 mins before the test to be fresh. That is about it.

Oh, I forgot to mention. There is a difference between memorizing temporarily, infinitely, and learning something.

I don’t tend to remember everything on humanities subjects later on like key dates, facts, etc even though I can remember the concepts. Math, reading, and others work great for me though.
