Hello, I live in Illinois and in high school a guy in a black suit would stand in the hallway and hit us in the head with a wooden stick emblazoned with the acronym ACT, its a freaking conspiracy Im telling you. (A little back-story) Well I took the test and got a 29, which I consider good considering I graduated high school with a <2.5 GPA. Any way I went to an average university and have kept a 4.0 my first year. I plan on continuing at this school for another year and hopefully not lowering my GPA too much, but I digress. The question is will I need to take the SAT before transferring UP, so to speak, or will my stupid ACT suffice? I couldn’t imagine why the two test wouldnt be interchangeable for transferring like they are for freshmen admission, but from what I have been reading when transferring only the SAT will due, but then again reading isnt my strong point.

If you are transferring anywhere in IL up (UChi, Northwestern) then ACT is fine.

So does that mean it won’t work outside of IL??? Personally, I would rather go far away from this place.

bump…

sats for sure.

acts are not recognized really (in my opinion) after the new sat came out

I’ve applied to many Midwestern universities with my ACT scores taken in HS and have never had a problem.

The ACT shouldn’t hurt your chances. I submitted my ACT score instead of my SATs because it was slightly higher and I just received my acceptance letter from Colgate. I’m from NYC, btw.

Thanks…just making sure so I don’t get screwed over.
