Stupid Graduation Requirments of your high school

I got to an LAUSD school. To graduate, we need:

-2 years PE

 • Health
 • Life skills
 • 1 Year Techinical Art (1 semester being computer)

none of which counts towards anything.
Am I missing anything?

We only need 2 semesters of gym, one semester of health and another for drivers ed, as well as 50 hours of community service.

Not too bad I guess.

-two semesters of health
-one tech class
-earth science ugh

I’m EXACTLY identical to your school, OP, not LA district but I am SoCal too.

I don’t find 2 years P.E ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– , but that’s because I’m pretty athletic and I like sports/exercising in general (except running…lol).

Health/Art…no need to say anything there.

One health class
A senior thesis
90 hours of commuity service
one year of gym
one credit of computer science

One semester (I think) of health
Two semesters PE
One Semester Tech
Two Semesters Humanitarians
One Speech

I still have a semester PE, health, and tech. Uhg.

4 years of English; 3 courses in math, science, and history.

PE 9 and PE 10/Health.

One semester of art, one of business/technology.

35 hours of community service.

2 PE
1 health.
2 fine arts.
and some other stuff.
like 1 econ. but whatever. useful.

3 years of gym
semester of health
semester of music
semester of art
religion every year
2 religion classes senior year
ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– classes like constitutional law, economy

gay. :(

4 English classes, 3 science, math, and social studies classes (most are up to a certain point, then an ā€œelectiveā€)
1 Term of Health, 1 Term of PE
1 Term of Biotechnology, 1 Term of Computers in Technology
2 Years of a Foreign Language (or computer classes)
Community Service (but it’s built into our entire school career in class projects)
Junior Paper
Senior Community Service Project (but it was eliminated this year, thank God!)

Its so stupid. We are required only to take a semester of gym and a semester of health. Ya, not bad. But the thing is, our schedule on allows us 6 periods. So after our 4 Core classes, a language, and MUSIC, it is physically impossible to fit it in. So they have an Summer gym program, which of course I don’t have time to do. Last summer I traveled and staffed summer camps most of the time.

Then they have a Alternative Credit Option which is for kids like me. I find it pointless, for me, being more intelligent than most people at my school and my staff, I find it ridiculous for me to accommodate them. I mean, shouldn’t playing a varsity sport count?

Then Junior and Senior year, you get like 4 blocks for Social Studies classes. But WAIT! There are THREE REQUIREMENT Social studies classes. World Areas (Geography, pointless, I know more geography than my teacher), US GOV (one is AP, planning on taking it anyways), and a ā€˜World History’ class (not bad, but it keeps me from taking more AP classes, but one of the World History classes is Honors)

one tech class for me and PE for a year

I find my school’s graduation requirements to be reasonable. I’m okay with 2 units of art and gym and 1 unit of health and computer science.

1 credit P.E.
1/2 credit Health
1/2 credit Fine Arts
2 credits foreign language
4 credits for each of science, math, english, and history
but that’s all for the adv. diploma or something. Most people who want to actually challenge themselves also have to fight the schedules because all my friends (and I) have to get our schedules redone at the beginning of the school year cause they can’t seem to fit everyone in.
We could do 8 period days but that would mean actually doing something right for a change and I don’t think they would be able to handle that.
Thankfully I’ve already finished all of my requirements, except for 3 core requirements…all my friends are freaking out though cause they didn’t take an extra class freshman year (I did…it was so fun, waking up extra early to go listen to my spanish teacher)

edit- oh and I forgot about the BTE credit (business tech essentials or something)

We need a semester of Health and six semesters of gym. If it weren’t for those requirements, I could take all the classes I’m interested in.

-4 years of gym
-health
-keyboarding
-pc applications

Eight semesters (!!) of PE, but one quarter per two semesters = health (which is sex ed/driver’s ed/first aid).

Two semesters of consumer science classes. I didn’t know computer programming classes satisfied this req, so I took Foods in 9th grade, lol.

Two semesters of visual/performance art.

Other stuff that I’ve forgotten.

All in all, I guess my hs is quite reasonable (save for the PE thing).

4 years of theology.

…

1-2 years of PE? Are you… serious? I have to take it every other day for all four years. It’s nuts. However, it’s an easy 100 on the average. Well, 95 for me. I somehow manage to miss a gym class here and there.

4 years of English, 3 years of math, science, and history
1 year of a fine art
2 years for same foreign language (or computer classes)
1 year of gym/health
1 semester of Oklahoma History (haha. shows you where i live.)

how do they get everyone to do community service hours to graduate? i’m sure that if we did that at my school, our graduation rate would be terrible. nobody would do it.
