So, dad brought home a game for the Wii (AWESOME system…my mom loves playing the sports and the original mario games with us (ie mario party and such) and its just a fun, cheap thing to have…) from Costco. Needless to say, that stupid f***ing clamshell-type packaging thing is still on it (the square of thick plastic that goes around the edges of all of the cd/dvd/games, even though the cds mostly have cardboard now), and my friend last night pointed this out to me and after 30min of 4 19-year olds, including 2 engineering students, it was still stuck. So, how on EARTH do I get the game out of there without losing a finger? It’s thick, sturdy plastic and it appears to have tabs, but I can’t seem to get them open.

We tried a knife, and nearly took a trip to the ER with human and a finger separate. Also, we tried fire and it didn’t work. I’d like to have the box whole though when done.

Take it back to costco and ask them to get it off for you? They should have done so anyway, if you’re talking about what I think you’re talking about. You need a special tool that you can’t buy at stores (for obvious reasons.) If all else fails you can hold a sharp knife over a flame and try to melt through the packaging.

Ahhh!!! Knife over the flame might work…haha I had both ideas going last night, but I just need to combine them. I’m too lazy to take it back to Costco, stand in line, and have them whip it off in 2 seconds. Another idea that dawned on me is using acetone to melt the plastic a little bit, then just pulling it. It’d be easy to wipe off the box and wouldn’t damage it as much as fire melting it.

Oh, and the dynamite crossed my mind. Well, fireworks actually. But I want the box when I’m done. What a cool event that would be though.
