Stupid Question No. 10823984

Do you know if it matters to a university if you bombed at your first SAT but you did very well when you took it a second time?

Do they care about your first score or do they always just care about the best score you achieved?

Whats that superscore about? I know its your best scores in every section added but what is it good for?

Usually not.

Best scores.

Gives you the benefit of considering good scores from a certain date. Not very useful when everyone else has superscores too though.

So even if I apply for an Ivy League University, they will only care about the best score I achieved?

So I could take just for fun or rather to get to know them?

I took it “for fun” as a sophomore in March and got a pretty bad score (2040). But then I retook in December and got a 2340. I’m not at all worried that colleges will use my old score against me.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people.

Whatever you wanted to say with that.

Thanks to the others.

Is this a stupid question?

What’s stupid is that a certain someone thought getting a 2040 as a sophomore is “pretty bad”.

2040 is bad if you’re trying to get into MIT or Harvard, but a lot of people might envy that score. I’ll be fine if I get a 700+ on each section but I’m not worried about not getting a 750+ on each section.

Take it as many times as you want to. Take it 7 times if you need to. I’m trying to get it over with on my first try, but if you get like a 750 on Math and a 690 on CR and a 730 on Writing, then you can focus all your attention on just CR for the next test so taking it many times can be beneficial at times.
