stupid question

I was looking at the course schedule and I am confused. I get that that the first part of the course ID stands for the department but what does the single letter stand for? For example there is BUS-X 202 TECHNOLOGY: HONORS and there is BUS-A 202 Intro to Managerial account. What do the X and A stand for?

The A and X stand for department.

OK…stupid question number 2…so even though they are both Bus 202 they are different courses? and how do you know what letter stands for what department

Is there a particular reason you’re wondering? It might help people answer the question if they could better understand what you’re trying to get at.

Yes, they are different courses. The vernacular you’ll hear around campus typically refers to most courses as the single letter followed by the number. People don’t typically use the BUS part in conversation.

I have no idea how you would figure out what all the letters stand for. It’s just kind of intuitive for most of classes in the b-school. A-Accounting, M-Marketing, F-Finance, L-Legal Studies, P-Ops, etc…

Trying to find courses that I can take at a community college in California. They use differently terminology
