Stylistic Sentence Fragments in Personal Statement?

I’m a HS senior applying for college.
Right now, going for UCs but the common app is coming in later.

Can I use (intentional) sentence fragments in my personal statement essay?

For example (and I’m just making this up on the spot):

Snap a finger and the times begin to roll. Ninth grade, band. Something. Yada. And the cold yada yada something.

As you can see I incorporated sentence fragments intentionally. Is this allowed in writing a personal statement? Specifically UCs?

Certainly. Sentence fragments are only a problem according to MS Word’s grammar checker. In writing, they are perfectly acceptable, though don’t overuse them. They really should have some dramatic effect, don’t just random;y throw them in.

Absolutely. The college essay need not be formal in style–“unofficial” but widely used writing devices are welcome.

Definitely 10char
